Labatt Poker Tour -I LOVE this game!

Four stops, One final table (so far), one heck of a good time! Year 2 of the Labatt Poker tour, and this year was bigger and better than the last. 2005 saw us (Killer and myself) play in 2 events, while this year had in in three, with me hitting a 4th(?) in London. Played some good poker, some crappy poker, and have one last stop to come away with the booty. I made a couple of new friends - Vanessa, left, Stephanie, Right(both hotter and smarter than the WSOP Miller chicks). After this PROTEGE gets a couple more tries, the Sunday 30+3, and the .NET qualifiers, then focus on making cash for the WSOP 2007.

WSOP Baby!

This is it! WSOP Event #1, Casino Employees, NLHE (no limit Texas hold'em). Who do Killer and I run into here, but one of our shift managers- Robert.
What can I say...hot chicks are attracted to me (LOL!). On a scale of 1 to Phoenix, these girls are cute, but no Jen! Actually, as far as girls in Vegas go, they ALL have "breast augmentation" if they work in a casino (company benefit), but they aren't "all that". I did a serious look (go figure), and saw only THREE totally hot girls- A WSOP model, a waitress at the Rio, and a dealer at Hooter's, who happened to be Miss Hooter's February 2006. THEREFORE, Canadian girls are hotter overall... The wall of champions at Binion's. Talk about history! This is what poker is all about.
Doyle Brunson and Benny Binion had a conversation a few years ago (1977 ?) before the main event. I believe it went something like this:

Benny: I think this poker thing is really going to take off some day.
Doyle: Ya think?
Benny: Yes. We have 34 (?) entries this year, up over last year, and I can see a hundred someday soon.

Well, 5 years later, he made 104, doubled that within 10 years, and this year, the main event will be over 8,000. My event had 1236 entrants, double last year, and bigger than the main event 2003 (839).



Well, that's it, no more dough...Next year, look out, SERIOUS preparation has already begun.

TEAM FULL CONTACT POKER!

So, I get an e-mail from FCP, and it says that if I wear their stuff at the WSOP, I get cash. Okay I say to myself, what's the catch? The catch is I have to wear the stuff they provide for FREE- hat, shirts....AND THEY SEND ME MONEY! Killer and I both inked our deals Thursday, and we meet with Lori (Negreanu...Daniel's wife, yes, I'm name dropping) to finalize the deal. How pumped am I? This deal is now finally available on the FCP website, but WE were contacted, so I feel important...hahaha!

Victory at Pokerkings!

My training includes playing freerolls @ Romby's restaurant on Monday nights. Sure you say, big whoop, you won a freeroll. maybe true, but they are a great place to work on mechanics: watching other players, tracking the pot size, making sure I do a "Chris Ferguson", act the same preflop, flop, etc...don't count your chips before you have to, PLAY AGGRESSIVE! DOMINATE! It's a lot easier to play as chip leader than short stack. Anywho, I'm up a gift certificate, and have a whack of points- I've come in 2nd twice, and 1st once, so I think I might make tournament of champions- maybe. The Port Mansion is picking up Monday Nights now possibly, we'll see next week.

Less than 2 weeks to Event #1!

With less than 2 weeks to go, training is going well. Did a session with Killer, the misses, and baby Jessica, running through scenarios, etc... It went well, and we're doing it again next week. I still have to be more "Selectively aggressive", (Don't leave your kids on the street, as Mike Sexton says...) Using STACKED as a training tool, and I wish it came out in October like was originally planned, it's a big help. Off to read Sklansky now...

T minus 4 weeks to WSOP!

This is my focus for the next 4 weeks. Event#1, World Series of Poker. All the playing, reading, coaching, comes down to my quest for THE bracelet. Training is taking place like it would for any sport, working for a peak at the event. The key will be to remain focused, and discipline in play. Do that, and I finish in the cash...

Family reunion and dad's 80th birthday party. This is approx. 1/3 of the relatives there, and another 1/3 could not make it, for a total of 110. THAT'S a lot of family!
